PSM Makassar, often known as the Makassar Football Association, is an Indonesian football club based in South Sulawesi. This club was founded in 1915 during the Dutch colonial period under the name Makassar Voetball Bond, or MVB for short. The club played as a regional professional football organization in the first half of the 20th century and was officially renamed to Makassar Football Association.

During the Dutch colonial era, the club competed in several national leagues under different names. The two most important were Association Driel from 1920 and PSM Makassar DLS Kits 2023 from 1950 when it became a “komitee” or committee-based association, like many other clubs of that time in Indonesia. The idea of forming a new club has come from Indonesia Djarum who propose that a new football club would be formed to develop football in South Sulawesi as well as convey the values of sport to the public. Djarum was one of the first brands to sign a sponsorship deal with PSM Makassar. In less than two months, they decided to go with Indonesia Djarum who had promised to help develop football in South Sulawesi as well as build a football academy and stadium for the public.
